Horizon Records
History
Horizon Records was born after the merger of two Asheville, North Carolina labels: Hear Here Records and Dawn Records. The Kingsmen Quartet were the first group to join the new label (having already released several "table projects" via Hear Here). Their first recording on the new label was Singin' In The Sun (1992). They soon added the McKameys, the Isaacs and other mainline groups.
Horizon soon partnered with Sonlite Records to form Crossroads Music, relocating to nearby Arden, North Carolina. The Horizon and SonLite brands continued to be used under the umbrella company. Both labels were sold to Pamplin Music in the late 1990s. After Pamplin declared bankruptcy in the early 2000s, previous owners Mickey Gamble and Chris White along with producer Jeff Collins and his wife Vicki were able to repurchase Horizon and Sonlite properties.
Over the years, artists releasing albums on Horizon include Andrew Ishee, Anthony Burger, Barry Rowland And Deliverance, Blue Ridge, Churchmen, Crist Family, Eldridge Fox, Heaven Bound, Inspirations, Ivan Parker, Jim Hamill, Karen Peck And New River, [L/Lauren Talley]], Palmetto State Quartet, Singing Americans, Specks, Squire Parsons, Squire Parsons Trio, Talley Trio, Teddy Huffam And The Gems, and others.
