William Matthew Golden

Biography

William M Golden was songwriter who reputedly completed most of his songs while serving an eight-year sentence in a state penitentiary. His best-known song is the 1918 classic “A Beautiful Life” (“Each day I’ll do a golden deed”) which was recorded by the Chuck Wagon Gang, Cathedral Quartet, Statler Brothers, Governor Jimmie Davis and others.
