William Lee Golden (January 12, 1939 - )

Biography

William Lee Golden got his start in music singing with his sister on his grandfather Golden's radio program The Old Country Church Hour on WEBJ radio in Brewton, Alabama. He performed in the Pilot's Trio with his brother in Birmingham, AL prior to joining the Oak Ridge Boys in 1965. He remained with the Oak Ridge Boys until 1987. By this point, the group had fully transitioned from a gospel quartet to a mainstream Country vocal act.

After leaving the Oak Ridge Boys, Golden performed as a solo artist for a while. He rejoined the Oak Ridge Boys in 1996. The group soon resumed recording full-length gospel albums again as well as albums featuring both gospel songs and positive Country material.

During the 2020 Covid-19 pandemic, Golden recorded three albums including one entirely gospel album with his sons Craig, Rusty, and Chris Golden with Aaron McCune supplying bass vocals. The albums were released in 2022. The group was billed as William Lee Golden And The Goldens.
