John R "Johnny" Cash (February 26, 1932 - September 12, 2003)

Biography

Country music legend Johnny Cash wrote and co-wrote several songs that were recorded by Southern Gospel artists. He also recorded many songs of faith over the course of his career.

1969 The Holy Land (Columbia Records/): (This concept album features songs interspersed with spoken word segments recorded during a trip Cash and his wife June Carter Cash took to the Holy Land. Another note of significance is that these are the last recordings Cash made with guitarist Luther Perkins, an original member of his band, the Tennessee Two).

1991 Country Christmas (Laserlight Digital/): (The initial release contained 15 tracks, but a subsequent re-issue removed "White Christmas" and "I'll Be Home For Christmas," possibly to avoid paying copyright royalties given that most of the other songs were in the public domain. A later re-issue oddly added live performances of "Ring Of Fire" and "Walk The Line" to the 13 tracks despite neither song having any references to Christmas).
