Calvin Runion (December 27, 1935 - 2007)

Biography

Calvin Runion was a legendary Southern Gospel bass singer. His career began in the early 1960s with the Ambassadors, in which he sang with Eldridge Fox. He joined the Kingsmen Quartet in late 1963 and sang with them for three and a half years, then left to sing bass for the Dixie Echoes in 1967. After a little over a year with the Dixie Echoes Calvin returned to the Kingsmen until 1970 when he became a founding member of the Senators. After a couple of years there he went on join Jimmy Pearson and the Diplomats. In later years, he sang with the Land Of The Sky Boys, which was made up of members of the Kingsmen Quartet from the 1960s.

Calvin passed away in early 2007 at age 71.
