Gospel Music Association
History
The Gospel Music Association (GMA) was founded in 1964. The purpose of the GMA is to promote all genres of Christian music, including, but not limited to contemporary, pop, rock, praise & worship, black gospel, R&B, hip hop, southern gospel, and country.
The GMA currently boasts of more than 4,000 members, including agents, artists, church leaders, managers, promoters, radio personnel, record company executives, retailers, and songwriters.
Some of the activities of the GMA include the Dove Awards, GMA Music Week, GMA Music in the Rockies, the GMA Academy, and the GMA Hall Of Fame. Jimmie Davis was a past President of the GMA.
