Edwin Othello Excell (December 13, 1851 – June 10, 1921)

Edwin Othello Excell (E O Excell) was a songwriter and music publisher. As a songwriter, he is credited with writing approximately 2000 songs in his lifetime including "Count Your Blessings" (music) and "Since I Have Been Redeemed" (words and music). As a publisher, he produced and/or contributed to approximately 90 collections. His 1909 arrangement of John Newton's "Amazing Grace" is most commonly found in modern hymnbooks.
