Gaither Gospel Series (1991-Present)
(also commonly referred to as the Gaither Homecoming Series)

History

The Gaither Gospel Series is a brand that primarily includes video and audio products associated with Bill Gaither and Gloria Gaither joined by a large and diverse cast of singers. The initial video product released in 1991 featured several older Southern Gospel artists along with members of the Gaither Vocal Band. Titled Homecoming, it proved to be so successful that these types of gatherings became a recurring event. The video products spawned a television series and an ongoing tour.

The first product release (Homecoming) was branded as a Gaither Vocal Band recording "with special guests." For the next few years, each product was given a title with an additional phrase like "Bill & Gloria Gaither present...with their Homecoming Friends." The series was formally given the "Gaither Gospel Series" brand with the introduction of a large banner on products released in 1997. The following year, the font size on the banner was decreased and has generally remained the same ever since.

Many Southern Gospel legends including Hovie Lister, Jake Hess, J D Sumner, James Blackwood, Glen Payne, George Younce, Vestal Goodman, and Howard Goodman were featured in the early productions. The Gaithers have also included current and upcoming artists in the series.

Discography

This discography lists AUDIO titles only. Companion video titles typically contain interviews and sometimes more songs.

Also, this discography is generally limited to the products that featured a large cast of singers and had "Bill & Gloria Gaither and their Homecoming Friends" or similar billing on the album cover. The Gaither Gospel Series also includes many recordings that feature only one artist. You will find those titles on each artist's respective page, not mixed with the large cast recordings listed here.

Due to the large number of projects released as part of the Gaither Gospel Series, the discography has been divided into separate pages by decade to make for easier loading.
