Claude Ely (July 22, 1922 - May 7, 1978)

Biography

Claude Ely was a Pentecostal-Holiness preacher and songwriter. His most famous composition was There Ain't No Grave Gonna Hold My Body Down, which he wrote when he was 12 years old, while critically ill with tuberculosis.

Reverend Ely died while playing the organ during a church service at the Charity Tabernacle Pentecostal Church in Cold Spring, Kentucky, where he was the pastor.
