Doug Riley

Doug Riley (1970 - 2006)

Biography

Douglas "Doug" William Riley became the drummer for Gold City in 1989 following his high school graduation from Glencoe Christian Academy in Gadsden, Alabama, joining his father, bass singer Tim Riley, on the road. He held that position with the group and acted as the spokesperson for the affectionately dubbed "Band Of Gold" until 2005.

In addition to traveling with Gold City, Riley was also a recognized songwriter and producer. His song, "Are You Ready?" was nominated for Song Of The Year at the 2000 Singing News Fan Awards. He co-produced 2003's critically acclaimed Walk The Talk (Cathedral Records) along with his brother and Gold City baritone, Daniel Riley.

When Gold City downsized to four singers and a pianist in 2005, Riley switched to the position of Sound Engineer.

Doug Riley died in a one vehicle accident on January 31, 2006 at the age of 35.
