Alice Herrington Melton (1921-2009)

Biography

Alice Herrington Melton was born in Lauderdale County, Mississippi. She and her husband Clarence "C.R." Melton founded the All American Quartet. Alice played piano and accordion and sang alto with the quartet for periods throughout its existence from 1946 through the early 1970s. She was also a gifted songwriter.
